“Faithfulness of Christ, Faithfulness of Priests”
Our Holy Father, Pope Benedict XVI is proclaiming a “Year for Priests” on the occasion of the 150th anniversary of the death of St. John Mary Vianney, the Curé of Ars. The theme is: “Faithfulness of Christ, Faithfulness of Priests”.
The “Year for Priests” will open on 19 June 2009 on the Solemnity of the Sacred Heart (World Day of Prayer for the Sanctification of Priests). The Holy Father will proclaim St John Vianney as “Patron Saint of all Priests in the world”
In solidarity with the Holy Father in launching “Year for Priests”, the Archdiocese will be having a concelebrated Mass with the Archbishop at the Cathedral of the Good Shepherd on Friday, 19 June 2009, 8pm. It will be followed by the unveiling and blessing of a specially commissioned statue of St John Vianney. All are welcome to attend the Mass.
There will be a schedule of year-long events in the Archdiocese to celebrate the “Year for Priests” to be held in different parishes.
