FAQ about Friends of Serra Club

Who are the Friends of Serra Club?
The Friends of Serra Club are a special group of people who pledge to pray for vocations before the Blessed Sacrament at least one hour a month either on their own or as a group.

What is the objective?
To encourage Catholics to be united in prayers before the Blessed Sacrament for an increase in priestly and religious vocations to the Church as well as for our Holy Father, Archbishop, priests and seminarians (to sustain current vocations). Eucharist Adoration for Vocations is a concrete response to Christ’s invitation to “pray to the Lord of the harvest to send laborers to the harvest. (Lk 10:2)”.

Why specifically Eucharistic Adoration for Vocations?
The Eucharist is joined to the ministerial priesthood. Our beloved late Holy Father, Pope John Paul II wrote “We (priests) were born from the Eucharist. If we can say the whole Church lives from the Eucharist…. we can say the same thing about the ministerial priest ... There is no Eucharist without priesthood, just as there can be no priesthood without the Eucharist”. (Letter to Priests for Holy Thursday 2004). Besides the Mass, which is the highest form of prayer, what better way to pray than to spend an hour in the true Presence of Jesus in the Blessed Sacrament?

How do I sign up as Friends of Serra Club?
You can sign up here and pledge to pray for at least one hour on a specific day of every month. To help you remember to keep faithful to the one hour pledged, you may want to pick a particular date of the month to do so. For e.g., if your birthday falls on 25 of the month, you might want to make the Eucharistic Adoration for Vocations every 25th of the month. To help you in making that hour of Eucharistic Adoration for Vocations, you will receive a prayer booklet to guide you*. Furthermore, we will keep you informed of our future activities through email.

Where can I do Eucharistic Adoration for Vocations?
You can pray at your parish adoration room (if there is one) or at any other parish convenient to you. Adoration rooms and their opening hours are listed in the prayer booklet* which will be given to you upon your registration as “Friends of Serra Club”.

What if I am unable to make it for the Eucharistic Adoration for Vocations on the day that I pledged?
You may make up by praying on another day within the month, in order to keep an hour of Eucharistic Adoration for Vocations for the month. However you are encouraged to keep to the date pledged as far as possible as a commitment to the Lord.

How long does my pledge and commitment last?
You are encouraged to continue with the Eucharistic Adoration for Vocations as long as you can. However one year should be the minimum, i.e at least 12 hours of Eucharistic Adoration for Vocations offered.
