Meetings

Regular meetings of the Serra Club of Singapore are held at the Church of the Holy Cross on the third Saturday of each month (6:30 am mass followed by breakfast and meeting at 7:30 am, concluding with an hour of adoration in front of the Blessed Sacrament).  Board members meet at 7:30 p.m. on the second Wednesday of each month at the Church of the Holy Cross.

Participation

All members are encouraged to participate fully in the Spiritual, Social, and Club programs and meetings and attend all meetings to contribute their ideas and suggestions.  A member on good standing is expected to participate in a minimum of 50% of all Club meetings and activities.

Spiritual Programs

The primary purpose of the Club is spiritual in nature.  Below are some of the highlights of the Spiritual Programs:

  1. All members are to offer the mass they attend every Friday of the week for the intentions of our Archbishop Nicholas Chia and to offer a decade of rosary daily for His Grace.

  2. All members are to offer the mass they attend every Thursday for the intentions of the Club and its members.

  3. Every Thursday - The Serra Board members on every Thursday of each week meet at an Adoration Room for an hour of Eucharistic Adoration for Vocations (8pm to 9pm).  Prayers used are from the Club’s Eucharistic Adoration for Vocations booklet.  All members are encouraged to join in.

  4. Non-members - If time and commitment do not allow you to be a full member, you can consider becoming a Friend of Serra Club. All you need to do is to commit one hour a month to pray before the Blessed Sacrament for more vocations.

  5. Induction Ceremony – Serrans come together twice a year (June and December) to celebrate the induction of new members to the Club, usually included in the liturgy of the mass celebrated by the Chaplain.

  6. Regular meetings feature monthly reflections prepared by Serra International in line with the liturgical year, spiritual inputs by the Chaplain and group discussions.  Guest speakers who present a variety of subjects on the Church, Vocations, Social, and other topical religious subjects are in the pipe line.  Annual retreats and pilgrimages for all the Serrans are also part of the program in the year.

Hence Serra offers its members a continuing education in their faith or, in the words of Serra International - a University of Christian Principles.

Social Programs

An important part of Serra is its social program.  There are numerous events throughout the year which are purely social, for example, nature walks, walkathons, BBQ.  The International and Regional Conventions are all Serra family events.

Financial Obligations

The Club is a nonprofit charitable organization.

Dues for regular membership in the Serra Club of Singapore are presently S$10 per month.  This includes the annual dues to Serra International and expenses of the Club such as, postage and printing.

Prospective Serrans

Potential members are normally invited to go through a 6-month journey whereby they attend the Club’s monthly meetings and activities as an observer and in parallel do a series of personal prayer exercises to discern if they are truly called to serve in the Club.
